UPDATED: NY SUPERGUIDE! It's been a month since I came back from the states but I couldn't make a post regarding it because I lost the usb cable for my camera (it needed a special usb cable...). Now I have one and it's time for a post!
We rented an apartment in East Village. We found the apartment through a site called AirBnB. I highly recommend using it! We got a great price and the transaction was safe. East Village is located in Lower Manhattan. The neighborhood is trendy. There's a lot of bar's, cafeterias and small boutiques and it's easy to commute to any part of New York.
I only stayed there for a week before going to Connecticut for the rest of the trip. The time in New York included a huge amount of shopping of course! The Euro Dollar currency was very good (and is even better at the moment) and prices are low anyway. I would say it's more expensive in the city compared to an outlet etc but then again you'll find more stuff in Manhattan. Check this New York Superguide. You won't regret using 20 bucks on it!
You gotta see an stand up show and look into to the club scene. I'm a little disappointed about the fact that I only went to one club/event. But hey, you can't get/do everything (usually). We went to Flashing Lights which was in Brooklyn that time. Sammy Bananas was the guest and I'm sure you've heard at least of one of the hosts. They are Dj Ayres, Nick Catchdubs and Jubilee.
The night wasn't as ravey as we thought but the minute we heard Sammy Bananas play the Bounce Camp - Big Dancing track a lot of people certainly knew that Finland was represented in the building! And if a few somehow didn't notice that they certainly did by the time Ayres gave a shout-out to us visitors from Finland!! Nice!
Likeable!
